Tobacco 101
This core training allows youth to learn basic knowledge about tobacco. This training also gives youth the ability to teach peers about tobacco through presentations and activities.
Objectives:
1. To learn basic knowledge regarding tobacco
2. To teach peers tobacco information through presentations and activities
Components
Skill Development:
1. Explore basic tobacco information including ingredients in products
2. Discover the effects and consequences of tobacco use (including cigarettes and smokeless/spit tobacco products) and second hand smoke
3. Participate in and learn several tobacco prevention peer education activities
Critical Thinking:
1. Discuss the scope of tobacco problems and issues
2. Discuss importance of issue and personal impact
Opportunities:
1. Practice peer education skills and techniques
2. Make a basic action plan to utilize information and skills learned
