Meet the Staff

The staff at Question Why is dedicated to youth empowerment and combined have over 30 years of experience working with youth.  Read below to learn about them individually.

Steve Johnson is native to eastern North Carolina where he was taught to love God, family, and country.  He attributes all the success he has had as an investor, motivational speaker, entertainer, and health educator to his faith in God.  Steve is definitely a fitness buff and as you would guess loves to read the Bible and pray.

Bronwyn Lucas was born in Springfield, MA and raised in Connecticut.  Bronwyn is the product of a multicultural family with mixed roots.  She attended college in Massachusetts and graduate school at UNC-Chapel Hill.  She has spent time in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji Islands, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Ireland.  She has been the Director of ?Y Central Region since 2000.  Bronwyn is married and has two sons.  Bronwyn loves to travel, spend time at the beach and with her family.

Jeanne Dairaghi is the product of a big Italian family (4 brothers!), growing up in the Midwest (St. Louis, MO), and wanting to make the world a better place.  She has enjoyed living all over the U.S. (Albuquerque NM, Madison WI, New Orleans LA…) and has sampled numerous jobs (university wellness, bookstores, research…) but is now happy to call WNC and ?Y West her home.  Jeanne loves to read, write, and hang out with her partner-in-life Steve.

Chandra Green
has family roots in upstate New York.  She attended UNCW where she met her “better half” and then attended ECU.  She taught aerobics for 8 years and now enjoys her new hobby, cycling.  In her spare time she likes to cook, spend time with her 2 dogs, kayak, and volunteer with a local children’s project called Camp Whole- Heart.  One day she might travel to Australia, Germany, or the Grand Canyon.

Christine Laucher grew up watching sunsets over the lake in Northern Michigan and now loves the mountain sunsets afforded by North Carolina’s Western Region, where she is the Coordinator for Question Why West.  In her off-time, Christine’s favorite things include playing ultimate Frisbee, reading, and taking advantage of the nearby hiking trails with her husband and two dogs.

Question Why is an outstanding program. It is wonderful to know there are teens who care enough to stand apart from the crowd and dare to make a difference in the lives of others. Your website is very impressive. Keep up the good work!
