Becoming QY Youth Staff
TRU QY Youth Staff are dynamic young people. Download the Youth Leader Application if you are interested. Many youth started with little or no experience in teen tobacco prevention or advocacy, but through on-the-job training, they were able to make huge differences in the state of North Carolina.
To be part of our staff you MUST be a:
- Student in the 9th to 12th grade
- Non-tobacco user (i.e. spit, cigarette, blacks)
Qualities that you’ve mastered or would be willing to learn:
- Great communicator
- Willing learner
- Creative mind
- Team player
- Strong presenter
We believe the work that our youth do is worth a lot, so we do pay our youth. After all, TRU QY Youth Leaders do the following:
- Create activities that teach young people about the dangers of tobacco-use, media, and how to advocate for smoke-free hangouts.
- Present to youth and travel around the state.
- Find new and interesting information about tobacco that is useful from a youth perspective.
- Assist Question Why in making materials and training guides that youth will love!
